There is a magical serenity when visiting the Lincoln Memorial early in the morning. Walking the monument when no one else is there creates a visceral connection to the past, present and a future to which I aspire. It reminds me that I'm walking in the shadow of someone with great humility, great empathy and an even greater wisdom.
